Gothic 1 Remake Orc Cemetery Walkthrough & Gate Puzzle
Fact-checked: July 2026
The remake substantially changes this dungeon from Gothic (2001). It is a Chapter 2 main quest with a target-based entrance, key halves, an Orc Lever, and a different puzzle route.
Start the quest and reach the entrance
Cor Angar sends you to investigate the Orc Cemetery, and Talas can guide the route. Prepare healing supplies, ranged ammunition, and free inventory space before entering because this sequence closes Chapter 2.
At the skull gate, ignore legacy walkthroughs that mention a winch. In the remake, shoot the two circular stone targets or weights positioned beside the entrance.
Search both dungeon branches
- Clear rooms methodically and revisit any mechanism that initially lacks a part.
- Recover two key halves from the separate branches.
- Find the Orc Lever and install it where the matching mechanism is missing.
- An optional prison-cell lever chain contains valuables, including the Ring of Orc Skin.
- Return to Baal Lukor after both halves and the required mechanisms are resolved.
Baal Lukor and the Focus
Baal Lukor helps open the focus-sealed door. Continue through the final sequence, then prepare for him to turn hostile.
Defeating him yields the Focus from Ocean Cliff. This is the first of the five stones in the broader plot and leads into Saturas's Chapter 3 search for the remaining four.
Do not use the original walkthrough
Original Gothic places this quest in Chapter 3 and uses a winch, teleport text halves, wall inscriptions, and an Orcish Teleport scroll. Those steps can actively mislead remake players.
The premise and Baal Lukor return, but chapter placement, entrance, keys, enemies, puzzles, and loot differ.

Frequently asked questions
How do I open the Orc Cemetery gate?
Shoot the two circular stone targets or weights beside the skull gate. The original game's winch solution does not apply to the remake.
Where are the two key halves?
Explore both interior branches. One route requires finding and installing an Orc Lever; search cleared rooms and interactable mechanisms before returning to Baal Lukor.
What happens to Baal Lukor?
He opens a focus-sealed door, then ultimately becomes hostile. Defeat him to recover the Focus from Ocean Cliff and complete the Chapter 2 route.
