How to Learn Alchemy in Gothic 1 Remake

Damarok is the alchemy trainer. Find him in the back room of the Fire Mage building inside the Old Camp castle; Milten guards the building entrance. Reaching the right building is not enough if your character has not yet earned castle access.

The checked trainer guide places the access route after Old Camp progression involving Casting Shadows, Diego's Test of Faith, reaching level 5, and speaking with Thorus at the gate. If Damarok is inaccessible, advance that route before spending time searching other camps for the same lesson.

Learning Point and ore cost

The community trainer database records Alchemy at 10 Learning Points and 100 Ore Nuggets. Carry both currencies when you enter the castle so you do not need a return trip.

Because Learning Points also fund combat stats and weapon skills, alchemy is easiest to justify when you already collect ingredients and regularly need healing, mana, or permanent bonuses. A weapon-starved early build may benefit more from damage training first.

Permanent potion timing

The community potion guide warns that trainers evaluate your total displayed attribute, including equipment and permanent bonuses. Its recommended optimization route is to finish normal training before consuming permanent Strength or Dexterity boosts and to remove bonus gear before a trainer session.

That is min-max advice rather than a requirement for finishing the game. Use it when optimizing a build; otherwise, a permanent potion still gives an immediate benefit when you need it.
