Gothic 1 Remake Best Builds: Strength, Dexterity & Planner
Fact-checked: July 25, 2026
Start with a weapon plan, not a generic stat total. Strength unlocks conventional melee weapons; Dexterity unlocks bows and crossbows. Weapon mastery is a separate investment, so every complete build needs both an attribute target and a mastery target.
Choose the build by weapon class
- Strength build: conventional swords, axes, maces, staffs, and a One-Handed or Two-Handed mastery path.
- Dexterity build: bows for the practical early route, with Crossbow as a separate and generally later training path.
- Magic build: Mana and magic-circle progression depend more heavily on faction and trainer access; do not mix it into a physical build without budgeting those gates.
Attributes and mastery solve different problems
Strength or Dexterity determines whether you meet a conventional weapon requirement. It does not replace combat training. One-Handed, Two-Handed, Bow, and Crossbow each have their own Untrained, Trained, and Master progression.
Current game-data tools support using weapon requirements as planning milestones, but they do not establish a simple public final-damage formula. Avoid treating every attribute point as a guaranteed one-point damage increase.
A safer Learning Point plan
- Choose a weapon you can realistically obtain in your chapter and route.
- Train toward that weapon's Strength or Dexterity requirement instead of raising both attributes evenly.
- Budget a separate mastery path for the weapon class.
- Keep ore available because trainers and equipment compete for the same currency.
- Recheck patch-sensitive requirements after a balance update.
Use the planner without overpromising
The Build Planner is useful for comparing allocation directions, but it is not a verified final-damage calculator. Use it to organize targets, then confirm equipment requirements and trainer access against the current game version.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best build in Gothic 1 Remake?
There is no single official best build. Strength is the direct route into conventional melee weapons, while Dexterity unlocks bows and crossbows. Pick a weapon class first, then invest in both its required attribute and its separate mastery training.
Should I choose Strength or Dexterity?
Choose Strength for one-handed or two-handed melee progression. Choose Dexterity for bows and a later crossbow transition. Check the requirement on the weapon you intend to use before spending Learning Points.
Does meeting a weapon requirement complete a build?
No. Attributes unlock equipment, while One-Handed, Two-Handed, Bow, and Crossbow are separate mastery tracks with Untrained, Trained, and Master tiers.
Where can I test a build?
Use the Gothic 1 Remake Build Planner to compare Strength and Dexterity targets before committing limited Learning Points in-game.
