How to read a lock
- Select the number of plates shown in the minigame.
- For each plate, enter the current notch from -3 through +3.
- Turn one plate once in-game and observe whether another plate also moves.
- Mark the link as Same or Opposite, then restore the observed turn before recording the next link.
- Press Solve lock and follow the Left/Right sequence.
Why the old pin guide was wrong
The remake lock interface uses rotating plates, seven notch positions, and optional links between plates. It is not the generic pin-alignment minigame previously described on this site, and original Gothic left/right chest combinations do not describe this remake puzzle.
This solver treats -3 and +3 as hard limits, because pushing an affected plate farther strains the lockpick. It searches the reachable board states and chooses a shortest edge-safe sequence. It does not model an intentional Master-tier pick break that removes a linkage.
Frequently asked questions
What does Same or Opposite mean?
When turning the row plate also moves a column plate, choose Same if both move in the same direction and Opposite if the linked plate moves the other way.
What do the -3 to +3 notches mean?
Set the current notch shown for each plate relative to the center target. Zero is aligned; positive and negative values represent the two sides of the seven-position range. Left adds one notch and Right removes one.
Does the solver need a save file?
No. It runs entirely in your browser from the lock description you enter and does not upload game data.
